Andra, the French National Agency for Radioactive Waste Management, is a public industrial and commercial organization, under the supervision of the Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. The core mission of Andra has three aims: 1) to propose safe long-term solution for radioactive waste without current disposal system; 2) to develop waste acceptance criteria and control the siting, construction, operation, closure and monitoring of repositories; 3) maintain and publish the National Inventory of radioactive materials and waste.

Orano, France

Orano activities focus on the production and recycling of nuclear materials and waste management, by developing activities in mining, uranium chemistry (conversion and enrichment), used fuel recycling, logistics, dismantling and fuel cycle engineering. Directly attached, Dismantling and waste management division is the entity which will lead the project for Orano. Dismantling and waste management division, among others activities, is responsible of all project linked with back end operations, and especially for dismantling and waste reconditioning.

Galson Sciences Limited (GSL) provides radioactive waste management consultancy and research services on a worldwide basis. GSL has an international reputation and profile for radioactive waste management, decommissioning, disposal strategy and options appraisals; disposal facility concept development studies; safety assessment, safety case development and repository licensing/authorisation; and risk communication and stakeholder management. GSL’s experience includes participation in, and coordination of, EC projects, and the organisation and reporting of international workshops.

Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (FZJ), Germany

The research programme in FZJ is focused on radio- and nuclear chemistry aspects with a special focus on solid state / material science issues relevant for the management of nuclear waste. The Institute of Energy and Climate Research (IEK-6) performs fundamental as well as applied research and development for the safe management of nuclear waste covering issues from the atomic scale to macroscopic scale of actual waste packages and waste related materials.

Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI), Lithuania

Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI) is a state scientific research organization with about 300 employees. LEI carries out fundamental and applied research in various fields related to radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel management, safety and environmental impact assessment of nuclear facilities, heat transfer, hydro and gas dynamics, alternative energy sources, materials science. Belgian Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials (ONDRAF/NIRAS), Belgium

ONDRAF – NIRAS is the Belgian agency for management of radioactive waste and fissile materials. ONDRAF/NIRAS’ overall responsibilities cover all management steps for waste in the Belgian territory (outside the production sites). In particular, ONDRAF/NIRAS has the monopoly for long-term management (i.e. disposal) of radioactive waste.
